Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard the news that thieves in Europe stole a truck containing 12 tons of KitKat candy bars. KitKat Canada was taking no chances and beefed up their security to make sure this doesn’t happen here during the Easter long-weekend.
The news of the international KitKat heist was one of the most viral news pieces in recent weeks, arguably even challenging the Artemis II space mission for the most discussed topic on social media.

KitKat Canada took no chances ahead of the Easter long-weekend and decided that no such repeat incident would occur here by increasing their delivery truck security measures.
The Easter long-weekend is known for its sweet treats, and is also KitKat’s biggest restocking weekend of the year when millions of Canadians run out to buy candy bars and other chocolatey products.
“If you felt traffic was slower than the usual on Easter Monday, that was probably due to our convoy escorts in downtown Toronto. We are not sorry for slowing down traffic, we are actually unapologetic for getting you a KitKat delivered safely to a store near you. “
If you were out and about, you may have noticed the extra security escorting KitKat trucks around the city as they made their delivery rounds.
The campaign from KitKat Canada immediately went viral with multiple videos from surprised bystanders like this one from user @jane.evghenia on TikTok.
The Easter long-weekend came and went without any additional stolen KitKat trucks, and Canadians were able to celebrate the holiday with all the treats they desired.
Candy bar thieves will definitely be thinking twice before they attempt any KitKat heists here in Canada from here on out.
