After 5 long years, Tim Hortons‘ iconic Roll up to Win cups are finally back in Canada!
The COVID-19 pandemic brought upon a lot changes. One of those changes was Tim Hortons getting rid of their popular roll up the rim to win physical contest cups in favour of making it exclusively a digital contest via their Tim Hortons mobile app.

While the reason for getting rid of the cups was valid (concerns over the spread of the virus), it was still a sad sight to see after 30 years of rolling up the rim on physical contest cups to see if you were a winner or not.
While life for the past few years has mostly returned to normal, we still hadn’t seen the return of the physical contest cups. That all changed today because as Tim Hortons had announced earlier this month, Roll Up to Win physical cups were finally returning this year.
The 2025 edition of Roll Up to Win runs from February 24th to March 23rd and you’ll have a chance to win on hot beverage cups, plus get a second digital roll in the Tim Hortons app with select purchases when you scan your Tims Rewards card or place a mobile order.

With over 14.7 million cup prizes available to be won, there’s a good chance you’ll win something this year. Tim Hortons noted that there is a limited supply of physical Roll Up to Win cups and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Digital rolls are not limited by quantity, but they will only be available until March 23rd when the contest ends.
While there’s no strategy for winning with the physical contest cups, there is a way you can try to increase your odds of winning with your digital rolls.
With many digital contests, the time you play can be a big contributing factor to your chances of winning. Prizes for these types of contest are often awarded based on the time you play. For example, if the prizes are being distributed evenly throughout the day, you’ll have a better chance of winning by playing at a time when less people are playing (3am ET), than a time when more people were playing (10am ET). This strategy has previously been covered in news stories for previous years.
If this strategy proves to be true again this year, I highly recommend saving your digital rolls for the last days of the contest and then playing in the very early morning hours to increase your odds of winning. The downside is that the last day to redeem your prizes is April 9th so you may have to binge your food and drink prizes in a short amount of time.
While most of us will only win free coffees and donuts, some standout major prizes from this years Roll Up to Win include Volkswagen All-Electric ID. Buzz vehicles, SellOff All-Inclusive Trips, Tracker Off Road 450 ATVs, $1,000 Rakuten Cash prizes, Samsung Crystal UHD DU8000 4K Smart TVs and more.
