Tom McDonald’s Canada is launching a new meat-free option with its new McVeggie Sandwich and it’s also bringing back the beloved Grilled Cheese Happy Meal.
Starting September 16th, 2025, you can get the new McVeggie Sandwich, as well as the Grilled Cheese Happy Meal and the Lettuce & Tomato Snack Wrap Happy Meal at McDonald’s Canada.
The new menu update increases McDonald’s lineup of more inclusive menu options in Canada, and offers those who prefer meatless foods more options.
The official announcement of the new McVeggie sandwich comes after McDonald’s had received positive results in their regional tests in British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick.
While we never made it to a restaurant location that was testing the McVeggie, many of our followers left comments on our previous McDonald’s/Fast Food posts mentioning that it was very good.

What is the McVeggie?
- A golden, breaded veggie patty, carefully crafted with a blend of carrots, green beans, zucchini, peas, soybeans, broccoli, and corn seasoned to perfection for maximum flavour
- Crisp shredded lettuce and a creamy mayo-style sauce to bring ultimate freshness
- Served on a toasted sesame seed bun, delivering that iconic McDonald’s taste
- Craving heat? Try the Spicy Habanero McVeggie, topped with our signature creamy Habanero sauce for that extra kick.
The announcement today also included news of the Grilled Cheese Happy Meal and the Lettuce & Tomato Snack Wrap Happy Meal which will both also be out on September 16th.
If you’re a regular McDonald’s guest like myself, you’ll remember that they previously had grilled cheese on the menu but it has been missing for a while now.
The addition of the McVeggie and two new Happy Meals is fantastic news for McDonald’s fans and now more people than ever will be able to enjoy their food.
