Tom Yesterday McDonald’s Canada teased a brand new collaboration with Minecraft, and today they’ve pulled the curtain back to reveal the exciting new Minecraft Movie Meal!
It was almost certain that this had something to do with Minecraft, with maybe a 1% chance of it just being an April Fools joke given the April 1st date attached to the teaser.
With the proximity of the date to the new Minecraft movies theatrical release (April 4th), it made perfect sense since McDonald’s has often collaborated with new film releases.
Today McDonald’s Canada has revealed all the juicy details of the new collaboration and they went all out for this one because on April 1st they are launching A Minecraft Movie Meal and Happy Meal!
What’s in the Minecraft Movie Meal?
- Choice of a Big Mac, 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, or a McSpicy chicken sandwich
- Fiery dipping sauce inspired by The Nether (with Chicken McNuggets meal)
- Medium Fries
- Medium Fountain Drink
- 1 of 6 exclusive Minecraft movie themed collectibles
- Matching cards that unlock additional in-game experiences
- Collectible Minecraft themed pixelated packaging
If you’re familiar with the Kerwin Frost Box McDonald’s Canada released in December 2023, this is very similar to that except Minecraft themed.
You’re probably most curious about the 6 exclusive Minecraft movie collectibles and thankfully we have details on those today. They’re all fun mash-ups of Minecraft and iconic McDonald’s characters and foods which mean they’ll appeal to McDonald’s fans even if they don’t know anything about Minecraft.
Here are the details on the 6 collectibles:
- Big Mac Crystal – Mined from the sea of special sauce, this precious block derives its radiant shine from melty processed cheese and a toasty sesame seed bun.
- Birdie Wings – Keep your eye to the sky or you might miss the early bird soaring high above the clouds with a rare pair of elytra wings.
- Fry Helmet – Forged from the iconic red Fry box, this enchanted helmet is rumored to protect you from friends stealing your last fry.
- Grimace Egg – Emerging from the depths of a purple shake, this magical Grimace mob gets its shape from the most coveted egg of them all.
- Soda Potion – The electrifying effect of this potion is as mysterious as its recipe: an accidental combo of fantastic fizzy flavours.
- Zombie Hamburger – Little is known about this hungry mob who spawns late at night and wanders all biomes in search of hamburgers.
In addition to the fun new collectibles, the new McDonald’s Canada x Minecraft movie collaboration is also bringing us 2 new limited-time menu items. The first is the Nether Flame sauce which is a spicy chili dip featuring cayenne and chili pepper with hints of garlic and a subtle sweetness.
To help you cool down there’s also a new Apple Shake that features apple flavoured syrup mixed with creamy vanilla soft serve.
What’s in the Minecraft Movie Happy Meal?
McDonald’s couldn’t do a Minecraft collaboration without having something for the kids so all Happy Meals starting April 1st will also be Minecraft movie themed.
Each Happy Meal purchase will include the following items:
- Your choice of Happy Meal menu item
- One of 12, film-inspired Blockhead or Block World toys or a Minecraft Adventures activity book
- A scannable code to unlock an exclusive digital game on the Happy Meal website
- Collectible Minecraft movie themed Happy Meal box
While the adult Minecraft collectibles are uniquely McDonald’s themed, the Happy Meal toys are just Minecraft themed. Here are the details on the Happy Meal toys:
